Registration now open for the som|dog Tom Taylor Memorial 5k Fun Run

Calling all dogs, runners, and walkers! som|dog is taking to historic Union Square in Somerville, MA for our semi-annual Doggie 5k Fun Run. The race begins at 10:00AM on October 16, 2016 and is a family-friendly *and* dog-friendly event. Registration is available at www.racemenu.com/somdog5k

This year, we honor Tom Taylor, Somerville Board of Alderman from 1983 to 2013, and avid SomDog Supporter. Tom was a major force behind the efforts to bring off-leash dog parks to the Somerville community. In a tribute to Tom and his family, som|dog is honored to bring our 3rd annual race “The Tom Taylor Memorial Doggie 5k Fun Run” to Union Square. You can run or walk with your dog through the ward that Tom proudly represented from 1986 to 2013.

This year’s race is sponsored by the City of Somerville, hosted by Bull McCabe’s, and supported by local businesses. Early registration discounts available and t-shirts for the first 125 registrants, and a post-race party will be hosted at Bull McCabe’s.

som|dog is a registered 501(c)3 volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting all aspects of responsible dog ownership throughout the City of Somerville and beyond. From education to training, civic respect and safety, som|dog works to partner with the City as well as like-minded canine organizations and businesses to create a strong community of dog owners. som|dog’s goal is to serve as a resource for the community, be a liaison for the City and ensure off-leash recreation and open space for all.
