Report Depicts Possible Future for Gilman Square
What should Gilman Square look like when (if) the Green Line comes? A new report paints a picture.

A movie theater, a park, fewer gas stations and more parking: That's what residents in Gilman Square would like to see in their neighborhood, according to a recent report.
Gilman Square, near the intersection of Medford and Pearl streets, behind and the , is, perhaps, one of Somerville's least known squares.
Recently, has been working to plan for the square's future, keeping in mind it's the planned site for a proposed Green Line station—if the Green Line extension ever get built.

Community organizers, as part of the inTeractive Somerville project, have held neighborhood meetings and sought ideas from residents online.
As part of this overall effort, Justin B. Hollander, a Tufts University professor, has created a website called Open Neighborhood. He and Amelie Hecht, who appears on the masthead of The Tufts Daily as executive news editor, have issued a report: "Virtual citizen engagement for the Gilman Square Area in Somerville, Massachusetts: Final Report."
