Restaurant Eyes June Opening In Former Pescatore Space

The Italian restaurant closed in January after 13 years in Ball Square, and an American gastropub-style eatery moved in.

SOMERVILLE, MA — An American gastropub-style restaurant replacing a longtime Italian eatery in Ball Square is set to open next month. Avenue Kitchen and Bar, which moved into the Pescatore space on Boston Avenue, is expected to open during the first week of June, according to Boston Restaurant Talk, citing a Facebook post from the restaurant.

The 2,000-square-foot restaurant will have seating for a little over 90 people across its bar, dining room and patio, Eater reported in January. Its menu will include Detroit-style pizza, burgers, steak, chicken and fish.

Pescatore closed Jan. 11 after 13 years.
