SCATV Announces Cinema Somerville, a Free Outdoor Summer Movie Series

Somerville, MA: Outdoor Movie Series Coming to Union Square this Summer

Somerville Community Access TV announces “Cinema Somerville”, an outdoor movie series launching on July 1st, 2015 at the Somerville Community Growing Center. The event series is free and is open to all residents of the city. The movie series is co-sponsored by the Somerville Community Growing Center, Somerville Public Library and supported through funding from the Mass Cultural Council. *All movies screened are in public domain.*

Cinema Somerville will feature varied programming, screening longtime comedy classics like the Three Stooges, Popeye, and Bugs Bunny to the classic comedy horror rock musical, Little Shop of Horrors.

The Movie Lineup: Cinema Somerville kicks off on Wednesday, July 1st with the 1960 dark comedy, Little Shop of Horrors, which stars a young Jack Nicholson. Screenings will start at dusk, right after sunset. Seating is limited; moviegoers are encouraged to bring their own portable seats, blankets, and lawn chairs. The series will continue on July 8th with Popeye, Three Stooges and Bugs Bunny cartoon classics, July 15th with Boy in the Plastic Bubble starring John Travolta, July 22nd with Return of the Kung Fu Dragon and closing with a series of Charlie Chaplin short films.
