UPDATED: Serious Injuries And Fire Reported in McGrath Highway Crash

The road is partially shut down around the Highland Avenue/Medford Street intersection.

A substantial car crash on McGrath Highway took place Friday morning, and one of the vehicles involved erupted into a fireball.

NECN reports at least four vehicles were in the accident. Four individuals were rushed to the hospital, two with serious injuries, according to Channel7. The source says a 16-year-old pedestrian was among the seriously injured.

The Boston Globe says the crash took place at about 7:15 a.m.

The portion of McGrath around the Highland Ave. intersection will be partially closed for several hours, authorities say, and the area should be avoided. Channel7 reports that one lane has been opened going in each direction.
