Shoplifting, Car Break-ins, And Stolen Tools: Somerville Crime Log

The following events were reported to Somerville police recently.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The following reports were received by Somerville Police between Wednesday, March 11 and Sunday, March 15.

Wednesday, March 11

7:48 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a fight at a business on Broadway. Police spoke with a person who said two men were shoplifting items and were confronted by the person, causing a fight to break out in which they both began punching the person.

Sunday, March 15

12:33 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering at a residence on Jacques St. Officers spoke to a man upon arrival who said his tools were stolen from inside the home, which was under construction. He pointed out a man who he believed was in possession of the tools. Police then stopped the man and told police the tools were in a nearby park. Police recovered the tools and then placed the man under arrest.

Other crimes that were logged by police throughout that week include three package thefts, two motor vehicle thefts, nine motor vehicle break-ins, two motor vehicle break-ins, and seven bike thefts.
