How did Somerville vote in the General Election?

SOMERVILLE, MA – Come on America, we can get through this. Voters march to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 8, to help decide one of the most historical presidential elections in most of our lifetimes.

From 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., voters hit voting booths across the country, electing not only our next commander-in-chief, but members of congress, state representatives and senators, councillors and county sheriffs in their communities.

The unofficial results are in, according to the City of Somerville election page. Here's a look at how Somerville voted in 2016:

Hillary Clinton: 83 percent

Donald Trump: 10 percent

Gary Johnson: 3 percent

Jill Stein: 2 percent

Blank: 1 percent

Write-in: 1 percent

7th District Representative

Michael Capuano: 88 percent

Blank: 11 percent

Write-in: 1 percent

6th District Councillor

Terrence Kennedy: 83 percent

Blank: 16 percent

Write-in: 1 percent

Senator in General Court

Patricia Jehlen: 83 percent

Blank: 15 percent

Write-in: 1 percent

Representative in General Court (Twenty-sixth Middlesex District)

Mike Connolly: 13 percent

Representative in General Court (Twenty-seventh Middlesex District)

Denise Provost (D): 45 percent

Aaron James (Pirate): 7 percent

Representative in General Court (Thirty-fourth Middlesex District)

Christine P. Barber: 22 percent

Middlesex County Sheriff

Peter Koutoujian: 80 percent

Blank: 19 percent

Write-in: 1 percent

Ballot Questions

Question 1 (slot licenses) lost 70 percent to 25 percent.

Question 2 (charter school expansion) lost 69 percent to 28 percent.

Question 3 (farm animals) passed 81 percent to 16 percent.

Question 4 (marijuana) passed 74 percent to 24 percent.

Question 5 (Somerville High School) passed 66 percent to 25 percent.
