Somerville Arts Council Is Opening A Restaurant
Nibble Kitchen: Global Eats by Local Peeps will feature international menu items from local chefs.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The Somerville Arts Council is opening a restaurant that celebrates cuisine from the city's immigrant communities. Nibble Kitchen: Global Eats by Local Peeps will feature a revolving door of menu items served up by local chefs.
Items include Venezuelan arepas, Ethiopian wots, Brazilian street food, Bolivian cuisine and Bengali fare. The restaurant will have a social justice and economic development component. Its entrepreneurs are predominantly female and hail from local immigrant communities, according to a press release. The aim is to give budding chefs the opportunity to test out concepts in a low-risk environment before launching independent businesses.
"Nibble Kitchen supports culinary entrepreneurship in our immigrant communities and celebrates multiculturalism through food," said Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone said in a statement. "This project reflects Somerville's steadfast commitment to supporting immigrant residents and recognizes that immigrants fuel our economy – especially the local food economy."
