Somerville Beacon Street Closures Ahead
Construction on Beacon Street is set to resume next week.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Construction will resume next week on Beacon Street in Somerville. Work will take place from Washington Street to the Cambridge city line starting Tuesday, April 17.
Daytime road closures will be in effect Monday-Friday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. There will be one lane of traffic in alternating directions during that time. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all other times, according to MassDOT.
The work is part of the $9.8 million roadway reconstruction project, which will include excavation and placement of gravel and hot mix asphalt. The project began in spring 2016 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Signs, traffic control devices, and variable message boards will be used to guide drivers through the work zone. MassDOT encourages drivers to reduce speed and use caution while traveling throughout the area and allow for extra time to reach their destinations. All work is weather dependent and is subject to change without notice.
