Somerville Brewing Company's New Secret Ingredient? Cap'n Crunch

"Saturday Morning" mixes booze with your 90s nostalgia.

SOMERVILLE, MA – It's a beer that'll leave your inner child giddy – and your outer adult feeling toasty.

"Saturday Morning," a new 9 percent alcohol-by-volume Belgian ale from Somerville Brewing Company, is made with a secret ingredient: Cap'n Crunch Berries cereal.

The brewery unveiled its latest creation on Friday, and said in a Facebook post it hopes to make the 90s nostalgia-infused beers available by the third week of March.

The line is a nod to Mike Johnson, a friend of the brewery's who first tried his hand at brewing Crunch Berries beer 17 years ago, according to Boston.com.

Brendan O'Toole, Slumbrew’s sales and operations manager, told the site the beer will be available at its taproom, as well as locally distributed. So those who can't make the trek to Somerville can still feel like a kid again, hopefully in time for St. Patrick's Day.
