Somerville GLX Construction: Nighttime Work This Weekend

Expect overnight noise in some areas this weekend.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Green Line Extension work is expected to take place overnight in Somerville this weekend, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Construction will begin Friday, May 4 after 8 p.m. and continue through Sunday evening, May 6.

Work will happen in the area of the Brickbottom Artists Building at Fitchburg Street and McGrath Highway, MassDOT said.

The reason for the nighttime activity is to take advantage of commuter rail outages on weekend nights during the next six weeks. Daytime construction is anticipated seven days a week throughout this period; however, nighttime work is not expected during the week. The MBTA will provide advance notice if this changes.
