Somerville High Football to Open Playoffs at Marblehead

The Somerville High football team will open the playoffs on Halloween night.

Somerville (2-5), the No. 7 seed in the Northeast Division 3 bracket, will be at No. 2 seed Marblehead (7-0) for a 7 p.m. game Friday, Oct. 31, in the bracket’s quarterfinals.

Undefeated Marblehead is No. 7 overall in both the Boston Globe and ESPN Boston state rankings.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) released its football playoff brackets Sunday.

The winner will face the winner of No. 3 Tewksbury and No. 6 Danvers in the bracket’s semifinals.
