Somerville Nonprofit Moving Into Sabur Space
3LPlace, an organization that works with adults with autism and other developmental challenges, is developing the space on Holland Street.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A local nonprofit is moving into a former restaurant space on Holland Street. 3LPlace, which works with adults with autism and other developmental challenges, is currently developing the longtime home of Sabur. The Balkan restaurant closed this past spring after 20 years.
June Peoples Mallon, director of Communications and Development at 3LPlace, said the nonprofit is planning on keeping some of the restaurant's unique features. It has raised close to $100,000 for its move from 50 Whitman St. to 212 Holland St. Additional fundraising will go toward restoration work, including reupholstering the banquettes, installing new energy efficient lighting and fans and buying two iPads for the space.
The move will more than double 3LPlace's floor space and expand the nonprofit's reach, according to Mallon.
