Somerville Police Officer Injured After Accidental Discharge Of Weapon

SOMERVILLE, MA — A Somerville police officer was injured Wednesday afternoon due to an unintentional discharge of his service weapon, said the department in a statement.
The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. and the officer was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released. He is expected to make a full recovery and no one else was injured.
"The officer's firearm was holstered at the time of the discharge," said Somerville Police Chief Charles Femino.
