Somerville Police Searching for Armed Robber

SOMERVILLE, MA — Police are searching for the suspect in an armed robbery in the Union Square area Thursday. The man was involved in a robbery in the Target parking lot on Somerville Avenue and fled toward Merriam Street, police said.

The suspect may have a gun, according to police. He is described as a black male wearing a black jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and a beanie hat, police said.

Police advised residents Thursday afternoon to not answer their door for someone they don't know and call 911 if they see the suspect.

Police were not able to locate the suspect but said they do not believe he is still in the Somerville area.
