Somerville Proposal Would Make Voter Registration More Accessible
Taking a page from Boston's book, the ordinance would have registration forms on display in public buildings in an effort to boost turnout.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A potential ordinance in Somerville could make it easier for residents to register to vote. In an effort to boost municipal election turnout, Alderman Ben Ewen-Campen at the latest Board of Alderman meeting proposed an ordinance requiring forms to be prominently displayed in public buildings.
Boston recently enacted similar legislation to make it more convenient for people to register to vote, according to the Somerville Times. Somerville's ordinance would require the forms to be displayed at public libraries, public-facing public school facilities and the Somerville Traffic and Parking Department.
The entire Board signed on, and it was approved and moved to the Legislative Matters Committee.
