SOMERVILLE, MA — Fines on parking tickets could see a bump under a Traffic Commission proposal discussed last week, according to the Somerville Times. The proposal was detailed during the Commission's public meeting Thursday, Nov. 14.

Currently, parking over the meter limit is a $25 ticket. The second tier of violations – which includes parking for over 48 hours, parking in a restricted area, parking the wrong way, parking in a construction zone and other zonal infractions – carries a $30 ticket.

The final tier – parking with an unattached trailer, leaving less than 12 inches of space and parking within 20 inches of an intersection – is a $40 ticket. The proposal would bump up all tickets to a $50 fine, the Times reported.
