National Braille Press Announces New Trustees and Corporation Members

(Boston, MA) – July 22, 2016 – National Braille Press (NBP) announces the appointment of five new Trustees: Joe Abely, Ian Cross, Mark Sadecki, Barbara Salisbury and Paul Schroeder. NBP also named Jennifer Bose and Kara Peters as new members of the corporation and Chris Cavallerano and Matt Sullivan as returning trustees.

“We are honored to appoint the new Trustees and members of the corporation who are passionate about the National Braille Press,” said Brian MacDonald, President of National Braille Press. “With their various backgrounds and expertise, they will continue to further our mission to produce information in braille and to support braille literacy.”

New Trustees

Joe Abely, of Wrentham, Mass., is former president of the Carroll Center for the Blind and has held leadership positions in the areas of finance, consumer marketing, global branding and distribution and nonprofits.

Ian Cross, of Andover, Mass., is director of the Center for Marketing Technology and a professor in marketing at Bentley University. He has worked in the education, global high technology, publishing, legal and information technology and service industries.

Mark Sadecki, of Jamaica Plain, Mass., is a technology program manager for accessibility at EdX and has over 16 years of experience in web accessibility and user interface design and development.

Barbara Salisbury, of Chelsea, Mass., is CEO of MAB Community Services since 2006. Previously, she held various leadership positions at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, the Philanthropic Institute, and was the Budget Director for the State of Massachusetts in the Executive Office of Administration and Finance.

Paul Schroeder, of Silver Springs, Maryland, is vice president of government relations for the American Foundation for the Blind and is a braille reader and senior contributing editor for AccessWorld: Technology for Consumers with Visual Impairments.

New Members of the Corporation

The members of the Corporation include the Trustees and other persons elected to membership by the Board of Trustees.

Jennifer Bose of Brookline, Mass., is a braille reader and researcher studying employment policy and the strategies used by individuals, agencies and states to promote high-quality employment outcomes for those with disabilities.

Kara Peters of Somerville, Mass., is a certified orientation and mobility specialist at the Carroll Center and an adjunct instructor at UMass Boston in the Vision Studies Program.

Returning Members of the Corporation

Chris Cavallerano of Wellesley, Mass., is a social entrepreneur and founder of Motivo Inc. and long-standing member of NBP’s Development Committee.

Matt Sullivan, of Brooklyn, New York, previously served on the Investment Committee of NBP and works for Microsoft in New York City.
