Somerville Restaurant Reopens After Temporary Closure
The Davis Square edition of this Hawaiian chain underwent a temporary closure due to change in ownership.
SOMERVILLE, MA — The city’s Pokeworks location was temporarily closed last fall by the city’s Board of Health due to a licensing issue, according to the restaurant.
The Hawaiian eatery on 261 Elm St. could be found with a sign on its front door stating “ Closed by the Board of Health.” According to the restaurant chain’s website, the Davis Square location was shortly classified as “temporarily closed.”
"The 'closed' notice was posted solely due to an administrative licensing issue tied to the previous ownership. Pokeworks Somerville is now under new ownership," Pokeworks Director of Marketing Geda Fernandez told Patch. "During the transition, the Somerville ISD/Health Division confirmed the prior license would be closed out and directed the new owners to apply for a new Food Establishment License, which has since been completed."
