SOMERVILLE, MA – A longtime Union Square eatery has reopened following an electrical fire earlier this month. Neighborhood Restaurant shuttered Sept. 8 after an outdated panel caught fire during business hours, Eater previously reported.
The restaurant first opened in 1983 "when codes were very different," owner Sheila Borges-Foley wrote on Facebook following the fire. But she stressed the importance of safety and said an electrician was working to "get all things corrected" in the building.
Neighborhood Restaurant reopened Sept. 15, according to a Facebook post. It is best known for its cream of wheat and is a popular area brunch spot.
