Somerville Woman ID'd In Connection With Abandoned Kittens
Police filed a felony complaint for animal cruelty in district court Wednesday.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Police in Somerville have filed a felony animal cruelty complaint against a resident suspected of abandoning kittens on local street corners. Police were notified Aug. 3 after the MSPCA Adoption Center in Boston received an adult female cat and a five-week-old kitten for adoption from an Aldrich Street woman. The woman's address was close to where the kittens were found, police said.
The woman, who has not been identified, "immediately confessed" to abandoning the three kittens when a detective interviewed her that evening, according to a police statement. She cried and told the detective the kittens were feral and she monitored the shoeboxes to make sure they were found, police said.
Police filed a complaint against her on Wednesday.

Kitty caper solved! I’m always happy to help and especially share my opinions(!) To his credit, Deputy Chief Steve Carrabino of the @SomervillePD kept an open mind about whether someone was in fact abandoning kittens in shoe boxes over a period of several months. pic.twitter.com/sd7ze0J9Zq
