Somerville's Sarma Named One of Eater's 'Best Restaurants in America'

The Pearl Street eatery with a Middle Eastern flair earned high praise from Eater restaurant editor Bill Addison.

SOMERVILLE, MA – For Somerville residents, the city's myriad of quality cuisines and eclectic eateries is old news.

But the rest of the country is starting to take notice, and Eater is the latest to highlight some of the best Somerville has to offer.

The website recently named Sarma to its "Best Restaurants in America" list, a rundown of 38 exceptional eateries from around the country selected by Eater restaurant editor Bill Addison.

Here's what Addison had to say about the Pearl Street restaurant:

Inspired by the mezze spreads served at meyhanes (Turkish taverns), Cassie Piuma maps out an exhilarating survey of the herbaceous, sun-baked flavors of the Middle East. Her recipes meld with the local seasons, assisted by produce from the farm of co-owner Ana Sortun.

Sarma opened at 249 Pearl St. in 2013.
