SOMERVILLE, MA – The West Branch Library will close next month to allow staff to prepare for renovations, which are expected to being in January 2019. A temporary branch location will be available on the second floor of the Tufts Administration Building, 167 Holland St., and others may be added in the future.
The temporary space will serve as a location for book drop-off and pickup, and other in-person functions, but will not offer full programming, according to the city.
The 109-year-old building is being renovated to expand and enhance programming and resources, community space and operations, city officials said in a press release. The library, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, will be closed until about mid-2020.
