Summer Spirits at Foundry on Elm

Davis Square spot debuts seasonal cocktail menu

To wet the whistle this summer, Foundry on Elm in Somerville’s Davis Square has rolled out a revamped cocktail menu featuring eclectic spirits and balanced blends. Foundry on Elm’s menu is developed by a unique process that challenges their bartenders to create thoughtful, well-made cocktails each season.

RUM:

For rum-based cocktails, the beverage team has created two specialties. The Free Bird is made with GTD Rare Bird rum, Meletti 1870, pineapple syrup and lime ($11) while the Queen Anne’s Revenge marries a rum blend with orgeat, lime and bitters ($10).

VODKA:

Vodka drinkers will delight in the clean and crisp flavors of the two options. The House Mule sees house-infused Ketel One vodka with fresh citrus and ginger beer ($11). The sparkling Flower Child is made with chamomile vodka, Combier, Cardamaro, cava and pineapple ($10).

GIN:

For lovers of the juniper-flavored spirit, there is a trio of cocktails. Finished with a Lambrusco float, the aptly named Sink or Swim combines gin, Luxardo Maraschino, lemon and orange blossom ($11). The New Day is made with Glendalough gin, Fino sherry, St-Germain and lemon ($12) while the Bonnie & Clyde is an outlaw-worthy mix of gin, cava, muddled raspberries and lime ($11).

WHISKEY:

There are three cocktails that will spark the debate of what type of whiskey (or whisky) reigns supreme. With its bourbon base, the Summer Smash has Cocchi Americano, Montenegro, blackberry and mint ($11). The Surfer Rossa shakes up rye, Cocchi Rossa and Punt e Mes ($10). Rounding out the trifecta is the Peaty Pablo with scotch, Benedictine, sweet vermouth, orgeat and lime ($12).

CENTRAL & SOUTH AMERICA:

For south of the border sips, there are three to choose from: Up in Smoke with mezcal, sherry, Falernum, grapefruit and lemon ($11); Thyme Out with pisco, thyme-infused vermouth, Combier and lemon ($12); and, Lime Light with tequila, St-Germain, Strega and Aquavit ($12).

Foundry on Elm is open for cocktails Monday through Thursday until 1:00am, and Friday and Saturday until 2:00am. Foundry on Elm is located at 255 Elm Street in Somerville’s Davis Square neighborhood.
