Taste Of Somerville 2018 Guide: Vendors, Entertainment, More

Everything you need to know about the June 13 festival, now in its 20th year.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Taste of Somerville continues to grow following its move to Nathan Tufts Park last summer. Now in its 20th year, the festival is an opportunity for residents to explore the city's wealth of offerings and for local businesses to connect and meet their fans and customers.

Last year's event served over 1,500 guests from over 75 restaurants, bars, beverage providers and local artisans.

"It’s no secret that Somerville has become one of the driving forces in the culinary scene of greater Boston in recent years, almost to the point where it can be hard to keep up with all of the new offerings," Luke O’Neil, of the Taste of Somerville committee and the Somerville Chamber of Commerce Dining and Nightlife group, said in a statement. "What we try to do here is make that a little more manageable, so you can taste a little bit of all of it all in one place on one day. Although maybe don’t eat 75 different dishes, that might not be a good idea."

In addition to the dozens of restaurants confirmed for 2018, the Taste will feature aspects of Somerville's cultural and entertainment community, including art installations, children's entertainment and a slate of live acoustic performances from local musicians curated by the Boston Music Awards.

Proceeds from the event will support the Walnut Street Center, a human services agency that provides self-advocacy and community involvement support to some of the city's most vulnerable citizens.

"The Walnut Street Center has always been rooted in the community providing the best in crucial human services for individuals with intellectual disabilities," Carolyne Guffey, chief executive officer of the Walnut Street Center, Inc, said in a release. "We are thrilled to be named for the second year as the charitable recipient of the Taste of Somerville, one of the most exciting and delicious food festivals that brings families together."
