Truck With 35K Pounds Of Peanut Butter Collides With Somerville Bridge
The tractor-trailer struck the Route 28 overpass while turning onto McGrath Highway. The truck's 51-year-old male driver was uninjured.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A tractor-trailer carrying 35,000 pounds of peanut butter was mangled Wednesday afternoon when it struck the Route 28 overpass while turning onto McGrath Highway in Somerville, the Massachusetts State Police reported.
No injuries were reported to the truck's driver, a 51-year-old man from Benton Harbor, Michigan, police said.
Authorities said the truck was a 2022 Freightliner tractor-trailer and that a portion of the trailer collapsed when it made contact with the bridge. Police said the incident happened around 12:50 p.m.

The contents of the trailer — the 35,000 pounds of peanut butter — were emptied before the vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.
Both lanes of traffic on McGrath Highway were closed during the cleanup, according to authorities. Police said the scene was clear by 2:15 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation by troopers assigned to the MSP Medford Barracks and the MSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, according to the MSP.
