Urgent Care Center To Open In Somerville

Set to open Wednesday, the new health center will offer free flu shots through January.

Somerville residents are about to get another option for healthcare, and just in time for flu season.

CareWell, an urgent care chain serving Massachusetts and Rhode Island, is opening a new branch Wednesday in Somerville, according to a press release sent to Patch. The Somerville branch, located at 349 Broadway, will be the 15th opened since CareWell was established in 2012.

“With the need for neighborhood healthcare, especially on weekends and evenings, continuing to grow, we are excited to announce the opening of our Somerville location,” said CEO Shaun Ginter. “The addition of a 15th location marks a huge milestone in CareWell’s continued effort to bring the highest quality healthcare services to local communities both affordably and efficiently.”

CareWell’s mission is simple — offer easily-accessible quality healthcare on a community level.

At CareWell branches, patients are helped by Board-certified doctors, with no referral or appointment necessary. CareWell centers handle any non-life-threatening, but still urgent, illnesses or injuries, including colds, flu, infections, fractures, cuts, rashes and allergic reactions. Centers also offer preventative care such as flu shots, vaccinations and routine physical exams with on-site x-ray and lab capabilities.

To celebrate the opening, the Somerville branch will offer free flu shots through January 31.
