Somerville, MA- Residents of Faulkner Towers could be seen last week enjoying ice cream sundaes on the roof deck and talking with Ward 3 Alderman candidate Ben Ewen-Campen.
“I met a lot of great people at Faulkner Towers: Carol, a published writer and activist, Lynn, an active member in the Somerville community, and Glenford and his mother Leithedene, who are sending clothing and supplies back to their community in Jamaica. These are the people who inspire me to keep going in this race.” Ewen-Campen and his wife Alex Feinstein went back to Faulkner Towers with clothing and supplies for Glenford and Leithedene.
BF Faulkner Tower’s mortgage was set to be paid off in 2018. Through refinancing with MassHousing in 2012, the building rents are kept under market rate and seniors in their homes.

“As a large elderly housing complex in Ward 3, it’s important to see that Somerville remain affordable for all residents with the help of the Section 8 Proactive Preservation Program from MassHousing,” said Ewen-Campen, “Whatever the market rate may be, we really need more affordable housing across the board to promote and support our vibrant, diverse community.”
