Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. SOMERVILLE, MA – There was a surprise face in the crowd at one Union Square music club Wednesday night. Mike Campbell, guitarist and founding member of Tom Petty &amp; the Heartbreakers, was in town for his band's 40th Anniversary Tour and dropped by Thunder Road to sample some local acts.

Campbell joined Grateful Dead tribute band Bearly Dead onstage for their cover of the Dead song "Loser." The crowd went wild as the prolific axeman took the stage, and he didn't disappoint, pulling off a seamless performance with the rest of the band. Tom Petty &amp; the Heartbreakers performs Thursday and Friday at TD Garden.

Steven Shane De Angelis, Somerville resident and son of Kelly Roberts and Steve De Angelis, graduated from Cotting School in Lexington on June 6 as a member of the 132nd graduating class. Steven received The Charles H. Taylor, Sr. Memorial Scholarship, which recognizes a graduate who will pursue continued education. He will be attending Emerson College in the fall.
Founded in 1893, Cotting School serves students ages 3-22 with a broad spectrum of learning and communication disabilities, physical challenges and complex medical conditions. Its mission is to empower students with disabilities to achieve their highest learning potential and level of independence.

Leaders 4SC is a summer workshop for middle school (rising 5th to 10th grade) students on writing and speaking, as well as leadership, communication, decision-making, and advocacy. Our goal is to train the next generation of civic leaders: members of a community who actively participate in society.<a href="https://leaders4sc.org" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">SIGN&nbsp;UP</a>
By the end of each week, students will have<ul><li>Completed at least one writing or speaking assignment arguing for and defending their opinion on any current issues</li><li>Participated in daily discussions and activities on a different major current event every day</li><li>Participated in daily task force activities to role play as key decision makers and stakeholder</li><li>Discussed, debated, and bonded with an incredible group of engaged young people! </li></ul>
