WGBH Tracks the Boston Yeti Through Somerville's Union Square
Did you spot the yeti wearing his dapper sport coat?
SOMERVILLE, MA – Massachusetts got slammed by another snow storm Thursday, and you know what that means – the return of the Boston Yeti.
While most of us hunkered down in our PJs, greater Boston's favorite urban legend resurfaced sporting a snazzy beige sport coat. WGBH tracked the yeti's movements through Somerville's Union Square, giving high fives and fist bumps to those daring enough to brave the storm like a true (abominable snow)man about town.
In a 2015 tell-all interview with the Improper Bostonian, the yeti revealed himself to be John Campopiano, a WGBH-TV employee and Somerville resident. The legend began earlier that year when the first storm of the record-setting winter hit, and Campopiano decided to break out his costume from the previous Halloween.
