Workers in Somerville (and statewide) need earned sick time!

Right now in our state, almost one million workers can't take a single day of paid sick time to visit the doctor or take care of a sick child.

This week, the Raise Up Massachusetts coalition submitted signatures to put a question on the ballot in November that would guarantee access to earned sick time for all workers in Massachusetts.  The Elections office certified that more than 2,800 Somerville residents signed the petition.

Hardworking people shouldn't have to choose between the job they feed their family with and their own health.  They deserve to be able to go see a doctor without worrying about being fired. And if workers can get the medical care they need rather than having to go into work sick or use the emergency room as a doctor's office, we'll all be healthier.

Think about the people you know who don't have earned sick time.  Maybe it's your sister; maybe it's your neighbor; maybe it's a server at your favorite restaurant, or someone who keeps your office building clean.  If you think they deserve better, vote YES for earned sick time this fall.
