Your Guide to Somerville's Holiday Festivities

From Thursday's Christmas tree lighting to the Menorah lighting on Christmas Eve, there's a lot to do to get into the holiday spirit.

SOMERVILLE, MA – From the wreaths hanging from the lampposts in Davis Square, to the annual tree lot in Foss Park, it's clear the holidays are here again in Somerville.

But the season will officially kick off Thursday with the Christmas tree lighting and visit from Santa Claus on the City Hall Concourse.

Here's a look at Somerville's upcoming holiday events:

  • Christmas Tree Lighting: Thursday, Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m., City Hall Concourse
  • Meet and Greet with Santa Claus: Thursday, Dec. 1 after the lighting at the Somerville High School Highlander Café (all children who attend the lighting will receive a gift from Santa)
    • Refreshments, Entertainment provided by the SHS school band and Somerville Community Chorus
  • Somerville Arts Council Illuminations Tour: Saturday, Dec. 16 beginning at 4:30 p.m. Tours depart from the City Hall Concourse every 45 minutes.
    • Trolley Tour tickets will be available at the Blue Cloud Gallery, 713 Broadway, beginning Sunday, Dec. 4. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. For more information, visit www.somervilleartscouncil.org.
  • Menorah Lighting: Saturday, Dec. 24 at sundown (approximately 4:15), City Hall Concourse
