Mona Lisa Speaks:
Bemused by the Folly of Men
A new chamber music theatre work for solo actress and onstage music trio of cello, piano and percussion set in Paris during the years 1911-1913.
The Mona Lisa is stolen from the Louvre by Italian worker Vincenzo Peruggia and held captive in his squalid apartment before being released in Florence in 1913. During this captivity, the Mona Lisa comes to life and in narrative and song, reveals her feelings and perspectives on the men who have posessed and obsessed over her for hundreds of years.
