Five Things: SpeakEasy Adds Performance of 'Red'

Today is Friday, Jan. 27. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. Temperatures are expected to reach the low 50s today, but it’s also expected to rain through the afternoon.

2. Tickets go on sale at noon Friday, Jan. 27, for a recently added performance of the 2010 Tony Award-winning play, “Red,” at the SpeakEasy. The bonus performance is at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5 (Super Bowl Sunday) at . Playwright John Logan’s “Red” tells the story of abstract expressionist painter Mark Rothko as he is about to begin work on a series of large murals for the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York City in 1958. 3. The Vermont-based will wrap up its week-long residency at the this Sunday, Jan. 29. The theater, known for its masked characters and giant papier-mâché puppets will have shows – Attica and Man of Flesh and Cardbord” (evening, recommended for ages 12 and up) and “Man = Circus Carrot” (matinee, recommended for all ages) – throughout the weekend. The theater’s week-long political art installation, “Upriser Calisthenics,” will also be on display this weekend.

4. The Greater Boston Food Bank’s annual Super Hunger Brunch is this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, at a number of area restaurants, including the South End’s (Sunday, $25) and (Sunday, $35). All proceeds from the brunches help support the Greater Boston Food Bank. In the past three years, the fundraiser has raised more than $181,000, which has provided roughly 456,000 meals to those in need, according to the food bank. 5. If you’re a foodie looking to support President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, look no further than  at 6:30 p.m.on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Fourteen of the Hub’s best chefs will be on hand, as Gov. Deval Patrick, his wife Diane and chef Ming Tsai serve as the celebrity judges.
