Soul, Punk and Funk This Weekend

(All events are in walking distance from stops on the MBTA.)

1.) : Looking for a unique gift this holiday season? Head over to the cultural survival bazaar at the Prudential Center. The event starts at 10 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday, and features wares from North and South American native artisans.

2.) Street Dogs: Boston punk scene mainstays Street Dogs are back at the Paradise, headlining the annual WFNX Wreck the Halls concert. Front man Mike McColgan was an original member of Dropkick Murphys, but left the band for a job as a Boston firefighter. Four years later, he gave up the day job and went back to music, forming Street Dogs. Doors open at 7 p.m. Saturday and tickets are $16. 

3.) Art along Harrison Avenue: There are a couple of interesting art installations along Harrison Avenue this weekend.  at Place: Studio & Gallery is a collection of paintings with Boston as the subject.  at the  focuses on the artist’s use of light via projection.

4.) : Local folk group Maeve will perform “The Soul Felt its Worth,” a mix of seasonal songs and original music, at the  Sunday at 7 p.m. The recommended donation is $10.

5.) :  hosts its weekly dinner and soul music session, with regular players joined by a rotating cast of soul musicians. The music starts at 8 p.m.
