Alligator Road Coming to Stoneham

Greater Boston Stage Company comedy begins Oct. 12.

The alligators just disappeared from the Stone Zoo and days later the Greater Boston Stage Company in Lynnfield debuts a new show, Alligator Road. Coincidence?

But we're pretty sure the zoo's alligators went back to South Carolina and the stars Alligator Road are in a hardware store, not a zoo. Alligator Road is an off-beat comedy that unravels notions of family, race, and giving away the store. As told on the company website:

"Meet the sweet, trashy and slightly hot Kathy, the newly widowed owner of a hardware store. Kathy hasn't quite been herself lately ... Not only did she yarn bomb the family hardware store (which, if it were a craft store, would have been FANTASTIC), she also gave it away to a complete stranger. Needless to say, her big mouthed-college-age daughter is just a tad PO'd, and she wants the store back. This brand-new play by Maine playwright Callie Kimball examines the pushes and pulls of family, community and race in a funny and heartfelt way."
