Water Playgrounds, Sprinkler Parks and Beaches Near Stoneham [MAP, PHOTOS, VIDEO]

Even if the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (but a big hooray for all the people who helped make sure it ) there are still plenty of places to cool off around Stoneham.

Here are some nearby places to consider checking out this summer (you can read my reviews by clicking the location's name):

• North Point Playground (Cambridge - map): Big water feature and superb playgrounds near Museum of Science.
• Springs Brook Park (Bedford - map): Man-made lake with sandy beach, playground and huge sprinkler park and concessions.
• Grimmons Playground (East Somerville – map): Separate fenced toddler area, big kid playground and sprinklers. It's beautifully designed. 
• Cedar Street Playground (Cambridge - map): Shady playground with sprinklers.
• Simond’s Park Playground (Burlington – map): Large playground with structures for all age groups and a wading pool.
• Fort Point Playground (South Boston - map): Large park by the harbor with beach and well-designed playground. 
• Lederman Park (Boston - map): Located near MGH/Museum of Science. Never made it to this spot, but it looks awesome from Storrow Drive.
• Bradley Palmer Wading Pool and Playground (Topsfield - map): Features a wading and sprinkler park. This will be the summer we make it here!
• Spy Pond (Arlington – map): Large fenced playground with structures for toddlers and older kids, sandbox and located near a couple of little beaches for wading. 
• Albion Street Playground (Somerville – map): Pleasant playground with a fun sprinkler/water feature. Not sure why I never wrote a review, but this playground made for a nice couple of days in 2011.

Other lovely beaches near Stoneham include:

• Bogard Beach splash park (Winchester - map): Well-managed sprinkler park, beach with lifeguards, small concession stand and playground.
• Lake Quannapowitt (Wakefield - map): Playground on south side near Town Common now has a toddler structure.
• Martin's Pond Playground (Reading - map): The playground is right on a beach at Martin's Pond, with a huge sandbox and lots of swings. 
• Sandy Beach and playground (Winchester - map): Free DCR beach with lifeguards and beach house (read restrooms).
• Breakheart Reservation swimming beach (Saugus, Wakefield - map): Plenty of activities to do at this site, including biking, hiking, swimming and there is also a tot lot and restrooms on the property.
