Event Details

Stoneham Historical Society & Museum, 36 William St, Stoneham, MA, 02180

You are invited to come to the Stoneham Historical Society & Museum on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 6:45 PM to hear author Eric Moskowitz recount a modern-day David and Goliath story how 3 young men from Stoneham, MA, in an attempt to save their fledging business, took on the giant Ford Motor Company and its formidable founder Henry Ford in a transcontinental car race from New York to Seattle. Moskowitz's newest book, "The Hardest, Longest Race: Henry Ford and the Cross-country Race That Changed America" tells the tale of a fateful trip across 4,106 miles of unpaved roads, over mountain ranges, through canyons and crossing rickety bridges while at the same time over coming dirty tricks and deliberate acts of sabotage.  Doors open at 6:45 PM. A brief business meeting will start at 7:15 PM followed by our evening's program. As always admission is free. We hope to see you there to learn the surprising end to the story and bring a friend.
