Car and House Break-Ins Concern Stoneham Police
Residents reminded to lock vehicles and secure property at all times.
| Stoneham is issuing an alert to the community after the Police Department received several reports of motor vehicle and house break-ins over the last month according to Chief James T. McIntyre. |

| Since the beginning of October, Stoneham Police received 17 calls from residents reporting that their cars were broken into. In nearly all cases, the vehicles that were entered had been left unlocked. In addition, three homes were broken into during that time. |

| “I encourage all residents to lock their cars all the time. Nearly all motor vehicle break-ins are crimes of opportunity and involve unlocked vehicles," Chief McIntyre said. "Also, please keep your eyes peeled and report any suspicious activity in your neighborhoods to the police." |
| To prevent break-ins and thefts, the Stoneham Police Department offers the following tips for residents: |
· Always lock all car doors.
· Roll up windows and close sunroofs.
· Never leave loose electronics in plain view.
· Do not leave money or credit cards in your car or loose change in plain view.
· Report any suspicious people or vehicles that you see in your neighborhood.
· Call police immediately if you notice something missing.
· If you believe your home was broken into, do not go inside and call 911.
