I disagree with Representative Day on almost every important political issue. This is expected because Mr. Day is a liberal progressive Democrat and I am a conservative independent. My disagreements include his vote to exempt the Speaker of the House from term limits which would have had the practical effect of making Robert DeLeo Speaker for Life, who is already the speaker since 2009. MA voters will remember that the three prior Speakers were convicted of corruption or ethics violations. Mr. Day voted Bacon Hill politicians a hefty pay and benefit raise. He supported the gasoline tax and he is a strong advocate of sanctuary cities and of Massachusetts as a sanctuary state. He opposes voter I.D. laws and he supports driver’s licenses and EBT cards for illegal immigrants. I am also very disappointed in Mr. Day’s spineless opposition to the several large Chapter 40B housing projects in Winchester and Stoneham, in which he ignored the unanimous objections of the affected neighborhoods.
But my greatest opposition to the continued presence of Representative Day in the MA legislature is his support of the overriding moral issues of abortion and the transgender use of bathrooms, showers and locker rooms.

I am a 22 year parishioner at St. Mary’s and a frequent attendee at St Patrick’s in Stoneham because of its convenient mass times and wonderful homilies. I recently learned that Mr. Day is a member of the School Advisory Board at St. Mary’s Catholic elementary school. What! This is extremely troubling because this Board gives advice to the pastor on school policy and has input on the courses. Yet, Representative Day strongly supports abortion, he is an ally of Planned Parenthood and a sponsor of the transgender bathroom, shower and locker room bill. I doubt that many parents of children at that school and parishioners are aware of either Day’s membership on this important board or his position on these very fundamental matters of Catholic doctrine. It’s a free country and you can believe anything you want to believe but you cannot believe in abortion and also be a faithful Catholic (CCC No. 2270) and I strenuously object to those values injected into the culture. Representative Day relies on the large Catholic vote to be re-elected but he is a Catholic in name only. Catholics in this district ought to know these facts before the next election.
