Colarusso Represents Old-Fashioned Stoneham Values

In Letter to the Editor, resident says Colarusso has never stopped fighting to keep our costs down.

A Letter to the Editor from Frank Pignone:

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Voters of Stoneham:

Today I must relay to you of events which are shaking this community of Stoneham in which true Liberalism has reared its ugly head to we the taxpayers. We have Fees in our Government as Trash, Water and Sewer, Sports, Drama and Band and many more which are all ‘inventions’ of Liberals in our Government to ‘go around’ the property tax controlling law of Proposition 2 ½.

Ms. Caroline Colarusso, one of our present Selectwomen up for Reelection next month has revealed we have closed the books for this year with a whopping $3.3 million dollar surplus! She has attempted to make available some money to alleviate our Fees and the other three Selectmen on the Board will not give
we the people one red dime and wish it all to go back into the Government! Two of the present selectmen withholding from us are present and former Government liberal employees.

I have lived in Stoneham almost all of my life since I was 10 in the year 1954 and was educated in a wonderful community well run during those young years with very little resources in a town of only about 10,000 people for many years. Even without an abundance of money, we began building our town with Conservative values and solid citizens home from WWII and the Korean War.

There was not much Federal and State Funding as America began to rise and Stoneham’s reputation as a solid Fiscal Community and respect for its Veterans was renowned across the United States.

The glue which guided our town was its Elected Officials, most now middle aged and many of them Veterans themselves honed in the wars knowing the value of each dollar earned and spent. Our Flag, our children, and God were our guiding values and fairness in talking and dealing with each other were Paramount.

The words ‘Liberal and Conservative’ were not even known by most as ‘Community Citizen’ overpowered both of them. Every citizen who ran for public office back then win or lose was respected with their head high because they all truly cared for the welfare of everyone’s family and when there was an Extra Dollar available from the Government, it was returned to the people in some tangible form.

We have always valued honesty in Government in aiding our people. But today; many things have changed in our community and great citizens as those old fashioned God loving people are becoming rare and our Town this year as we go to the polls is no exception.

Government now seems to be a place for many, even in our Town to seek easy jobs, easy pensions, and for very liberal people to form ‘Oligarchies’ of Friendships’ and group, greedy ‘partnerships’ at the ballot box. Thank God we still have in our town some people who represent those old fashioned values of Family, God, Family, Honesty, Courage, and real Friendship to all who need her.

That person is Ms. Caroline Colarusso who is running for Re-Election and has record of serving only we the people with an eye on our tax dollar and keeping our government respecting our hard earned money unlike at least three of the very liberal members she is serving on the Board of Selectmen right now. Since her first day in public office she has never stopped fighting to keep our costs down and government as small as possible.

To myself, having been a Businessman, Selectman and Water Board Chairman, I know for sure that unless elected officials know much about Finance, and able to discern, analyze, and read these complicated and long numerical pieces of Data, then public service simply becomes a Popularity Contest and if the Liberals on the Board presently take control with another liberal then all of Caroline’s work over the years will be for not and your taxes and fees will continue to skyrocket as there is a ‘chill’ which has come over this Board of Selectmen which shakes my core of when I grew up and served.

I ask for your vote for Selectwomen Caroline Colarusso so that she may continue ‘our’ work on our behalf.
