POLICE DATA: Calls for Breaking and Entering, Motor Vehicle Accidents Up in 2011
Check out the police data that will appear in the 2011 annual report in Stoneham.
While crime was mostly down in Stoneham in 2011 compared to 2010, breaking and entering calls saw an increase of more than 30 percent last year while motor vehicles accidents spiked nearly 22 percent, according to the 2011 police data that will appear in the annual report.
Seven of the 29 call categories saw an increase in 2011 compared to 2010, including:
- Firearms calls: 250 percent
- Breaking and entering (including attempts): 32.6 percent
- Motor vehicle accidents: 21.6 percent
- Motor vehicle (all other calls): 8.5 percent
- Summonses served: 4.9 percent
- Alarms (including fire alarms): 4.8 percent
- Road hazard: 0.6 percent
Of the 22 categories that saw a reduction in 2011, some of the notable decreases included:

- Homicides: 100 percent
- Sex crimes: 60 percent
- Assaults: 41.7 percent
- Breaking and entering (motor vehicles only): 23.1 percent
- Vandalism: 14.6 percent
