Cyril O'Neil Passes Away
Malden Catholic graduate was US Navy veteran and served as deacon at St. Patrick Church.

Cyril T. O'Neil, Senior Deacon, 80, of Stoneham and Onset, formerly of Somerville, passed away Nov. 14.
He was the loving husband and best friend of Carolyn Shea O'Neil. Devoted father of Christopher O'Neil and his wife Susan, and his much loved daughter Cynthia. Also survived by his cherished granddaughters Cassandra and Samantha. Brother of James of Cohasset, John and his wife Ellie of Boca Raton. He was predeceased by his sister Helen Gobiel and brother Patrick. Uncle to three generations of nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Malden Catholic, Cy served his country in the U.S. Navy specializing in aviation electronics. He attended Boston University Metropolitan College studying Data Processing. He began his career in the computer industry at Honeywell, followed by R.C.A., Sperry Rand, Inforex and Wang. In 1990, Cy was ordained a Permanent Deacon, serving at St. Patrick Church in Stoneham. Following his retirement from the world of computers, he became a certified hospital chaplain and spent ten years ministering to patients and families in several hospitals.

Visiting Hours will be at St. Patrick Church 71 Central St., Stoneham, Friday Nov. 24th from 4-7 pm and Saturday, Nov. 25th from 8:30–9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am celebrating Cy's Eternal Life. Donations in memory of Cy may be made to St. Patrick Food Group 71 Central St. Stoneham MA 02180. Interment will be at a later date.
