of local aid and education funding appropriated to Stoneham, including $5,266,351 in Chapter 70
education funding and $3,946,510 in unrestricted local aid that the town can utilize for its own

“I am very happy with the work we have done in the House budget, particularly with the direct
assistance coming back to Stoneham,” said Representative Day. “I heard concerns about the
safety of our public roads and trails from many of our residents. I am committed to providing
our town with increased state assistance and financial stability and I appreciate the willingness of
my colleagues in both parties to work with me towards that goal.”
The House and Representative Day maintained its commitment to addressing the scourge of
addiction by providing all EMS and ambulance companies access to discounted naloxone,
making it more available for use in the field. The budget also highlighted another of
Representatives Day’s priorities, by increasing access to high-quality early education and care
(EEC) for children. The House voted to increase rates for early education providers by $20
million and support continuing education opportunities with community colleges.

“I support this budget because it reflects our shared values and priorities here in Massachusetts," said Representative Day. “The House budget continues to keep Massachusetts on firm financial footing without asking our taxpayers to do more than they already are.”
The FY20 budget, totaling $42.7 billion, now moves to the Senate for its recommendations and
approval. Once the Senate passes its budget, the two chambers will reconcile any differences
before sending a final budget to the Governor. For more information or to view the full text of
