Day Defeats Colarusso to win Second Term as State Rep.

BREAKING: Incumbent state Rep. Michael Day will serve another term on Beacon Hill.

STONEHAM, MA — In what was one of the more contentious state Representative races in recent memory, incumbent Democratic Rep. Michael Day defeated Republican challenger and Stoneham selectwoman Caroline Colarusso Tuesday.

Day was victorious in Winchester by an unofficial count of 7,195 to 4,659, according to the Winchester Town Clerk's office. As of midnight Wednesday, Stoneham's results have yet to be officially announced, however Day indicated through his Facebook page that his campaign was victorious by a count of 58.63 percent to 41.37 percent.

In a statement posted to social media, Colarusso conceded defeat and thanked her supporters for their efforts in her campaign.
