Day Supports Bill To Fund Infrastructure Improvements
$200 million slated to help with roads and bridges.

State Representative Michael S. Day (D-Stoneham) joined his colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass legislation that authorizes $200 million for Chapter 90 funding that will help municipalities complete road, bridge and infrastructure improvement projects. The bill also appropriates $70 million to replace the Registry of Motor Vehicle’s information technology infrastructure.
“This funding is vital to our municipalities as they grapple with public safety concerns and the costs of maintaining and improving our aging infrastructure,” said Representative Day. “I am grateful to my colleagues for joining me in voting for this $200 Million appropriation, including $476,786 for the Town of Stoneham. This money will aid our Towns as they enter the spring construction season and work to rehabilitate our roadways following these winter months of heavy wear and tear.”
This legislation complements a 2016 transportation law focused on highways, small bridges and a municipal grant program. That bill authorized $750 million for both federal-aid interstate and non-interstate highway projects, and $50 million for a new program to repair small bridges.
