'Disappointing Day': Letter to the Editor
"I wish Rep. Day would tell the whole story about the budget."

The following is a letter to the editor. To get in on the conversation, email mike.carraggi@patch.com
I wish Rep. Day would tell the whole story about the budget. He voted against more transparency. He supported bundling amendments that allow things to be snuck into the budget such as a commission on legislative pay. In a previous session a commission was secretly added to the budget. The commission’s report was used as justification for passing the huge pay and expenses raises that Rep. Day voted for this year. Let's not forget that Mr. Day also supported putting an emergency preamble on the pay raise bill so it could not be stopped by a citizens’ referendum petition and so legislators could get their pay raises as quickly as possible! I fear what we will be paying the price for years for things that were snuck into the budget this year due to Mr. Day being part of the go along to get along crowd. Rep. Day also fails to mention that he voted to kill the amendment to create a sales tax holiday. So he gets the huge increase in his expense account, but taxpayers cannot get a break for the second year in a row. Disappointing Day.
