'Earn Your Turkey' Thanksgiving Day 5K

Race proceeds will benefit Wakefield High School Scholarships.

Runners will race around Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield the morning before they dig into their Thanksgiving feasts in the fifth annual “Earn Your Turkey” 5k Road Race.

The race brings in over a thousand runners from the surrounding communities each year, said Kelley Allardi, Active Motion Physical Therapy owner and senior therapist.

The race kicks off at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27.

The race is hosted by Active Motion Physical Therapy (AMPT), an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic in Wakefield.

Last year, the “Earn Your Turkey” 5k raised $5,000 in funds to benefit Wakefield High School Scholarships.

Race proceeds go to the “AMPT Scholarship” fund. AMPT awards scholarships to two Wakefield High School seniors who excel in academics and athletics. Click here for more information on the AMPT scholarship.

Tuesday is the last day for online registration. Those who pre-register will receive a t-shirt. Registration is $25. Sign up here.

Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

The top three overall male and female finishers and the top male and female finishers in each age group will be recognized. The age groups are: 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.
