Encore Worker From Stoneham Indicted In 'Violent' Attack: AG
Authorities said the 24-year-old helped the attackers escape after an assault at the casino last fall.

EVERETT, MA — A Stoneham woman who worked at Encore Boston Harbor is one of four people charged in a "violent" assault at the casino last fall, according to the Attorney General's office. Brittany Dawson, 24, was indicted on charges of impeding a gaming investigation and acting as an accessory after the fact.
Authorities said 27-year-old Matthew Haley, of Cambridge, and 32-year-old Jose Mercado, of Boston assaulted a man in an elevator Oct. 23. Haley punched the man in the face and repeatedly kicked on stomped on his head and body when he fell on the floor, with Mercado joining in, the AG's office said.
Dawson held the door to the parking garage open from the elevator bay for the men to escape and then drove them away from the casino, according to the AG. The suspects and the victim were strangers, authorities said.
