The St. Patrick Movie Club will be showing "Monsieur Vincent", a movie about St. Vincent de Paul, on Thursday, February 17, 7:00 PM, in the Youth Room. Admission is free.
This movie brings St. Vincent to life as an ordinary human being who became extraordinary through the strength of his faith. As portrayed by the great French actor Pierre Fresnay, St. Vincent was compassionate but not soft, deeply spiritual but tirelessly active in his efforts to help the poor, humble but not afraid of anyone -- not even Cardinal Richelieu!
After the movie, we will discuss what it told us about St. Vincent and his life and faith. To facilitate reflection, we will have popcorn, cookies, and soda. "Monsieur Vincent" won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1948 and is on the Vatican's list of the 100 best Catholic movies. In French, with subtitles.
